The scenic train ride from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Seattle, Washington, takes about four hours on Amtrak’s Cascades route. Arrange to sit on the right side of the train for the best views.
About the Train
Morning and late afternoon trains depart Vancouver’s Pacific Central Station and arrive at Seattle’s King Street Station. You can book travel in either coach or business class, but you must make your reservation before boarding the train. Be aware that you’ll need to provide proper identification for the border crossing, and you’ll need to provide Amtrak with extra information such as your date of birth and country of citizenship when you make your reservation.
Use the Fare Finder tool at Amtrak’s website to book online. Amtrak also provides a free mobile Travel Smart app for your smartphone that gives station information and allows you to change your reservation and use an e-ticket for boarding. The Vancouver station does not have a Quik-Trak kiosk where you can buy your ticket, but Seattle’s does. If you prefer to book your ticket the old-fashioned way, use Amtrak's 24-hour phone service; most travel agents can make reservations for you.
