Due in part to the decades of pragmatic leadership under the now deceased King Hussein, Jordan enjoys an uncommon reputation of peace among notoriously restless neighbors--Israel to the west and Iraq to the east. Despite Jordan's friendly people and wonderfully historic attractions, Jordan remains largely free from tourist traffic. Regional conflicts deter most travelers, but not necessarily for good reason. Jordan makes for a fine vacation destination. Read on to learn how to find luxury accommodations in Jordan.

    Find Luxury Accommodations

  1. Step 1

Mark those attractions in Jordan which are your top priority. Most people will want to visit Petra, the city carved out of sandstone. There are relics from the Crusades and also Roman rule which still stand in other isolated areas. The city of Amman makes a practical choice of location when seeking luxury accommodations. Contact the Jordan Tourism Board by calling (877) SEE-JORDAN or by visiting the link below for information on travel and booking accommodations.

  2. Step 2

Explore luxury accommodations in Wadi Musa, especially if you plan to spend some time in Petra or Wadi Rum--two of Jordan's most spectacular desert sites. Wadi Musa plays home to a handful of luxury resorts. Prices begin at around $100 US per night.

  3. Step 3

Stay in Aqaba if water is important to your vacation. Aqaba is the only port city in Jordan due to its location on the tip of the Gulf of Aqaba. Aqaba's importance as a port city and its proximity to Wadi Rum justify the presence of a handful of luxury hotels.

  4. Prepare for Your Stay

  5. Step 1

Check with Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to help you gauge the level of caution you should exercise when visiting Jordan.

  6. Step 2

Visit Jordan during the temperate months of May, September or October. However, the Dead Sea makes a great destination during the winter. You can still swim in the winter months.

  7. Get to Know Local Laws and Customs

  8. Step 1

Leave your shorts at home to fit in with the locals. Luckily for women, Jordan has a westernized code of dress, so head coverings and clothing that covers all parts of the body are not required as they are in many places in the Middle East.

Tips & Warnings
  • Obtain a visa in order to enter Jordan.
  • Check up on the political situation of the region, and assess for yourself whether there is enough threat of terrorist or military action to make a trip to Jordan unwise.
