Avoid the rainy season when booking reservations. Generally the late fall to early spring months in Haiti are considered the rainy season. This time of year can be difficult for those not accustomed to high humidity. Be aware that prices for accommodations may rise during the more pleasant seasons in Haiti.

Know that Port-au-Prince has experienced unrest that may make finding safe luxury accommodations challenging in the heart of the city. There are interesting and unique hotels in the area, though, and prices are moderate by US standards.

Look for accommodations in the areas just outside Port-au-Prince, such as in the relatively affluent village of Petionville or in areas near Petionville. You can book a stay in a luxury resort in the hills or stay in a luxury hotel decorated in traditional Haitian decor.

Explore the areas a bit further from Port-au-Prince to find charming and unique accommodations in smaller towns such as Jacmel or Port Salut. Port Salut is a beach town, so you can engage in some ocean-based R&R there.
