How to Find Luxury Hotels In Chisinau, Moldova

Rate: (1 Ratings)

Chisinau is the capital of Moldova, a small Eastern European country that shares borders with Ukraine and Romania. Formerly a part of the Soviet Union, Moldova suffered many years of domestic violence and economic depression, but is now making a slow recovery as it tries to establish a place for itself in the modern world.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • The appropriate visas.
  • A valid passport.

Find Luxury Accommodations in Chisinau, Moldova

Step1
To book accommodations, contact Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Moldova at 011 (+373) 22 22 76 20 or visit the Web site (see Resources below). Ask if you will have a private bathroom. Shared bathrooms are common features of most accommodations in Chisinau. A private bathroom is considered a luxury, so be prepared to pay a premium for it.
Step2
Snag an apartment. There is a nice selection of short term apartments for rent in Chisinau, which make great accommodations for those planning to stay more than a few days. In an apartment, you will have the luxury of privacy and a standard of cleanliness that most hotels in Chisinau do not offer.
Step3
Realize that 3-star accommodations may be the best you will find. Chisinau, and Moldova as a whole, does not have what the West would consider luxury accommodations. If you find a place that is reasonably clean with reliable electricity and hot water, you have found one of the nicer places to stay in Chisinau.

Navigate Chisinau, Moldova

Step1
Call a cab to pick you up. Chisinau has a plethora of cabs available at any given time. Prices are good and you will not have to worry about finding your way around an unfamiliar city on your own.
Step2
Get on the bus to go between cities in Moldova. If you plan on traveling outside of Chisinau, Moldova's national bus system is a budget friendly option to get you where you want to go.

Experience Chisinau, Moldova

Step1
Take a wine tour. Moldova is famous for its wines and there are plenty of wine tours given throughout the country, including in Chisinau. See the grape fields and sample the locally produced libations during a lazy, hazy day of leisure in the Moldovan sun.
Step2
Visit the National History and Archaeology Museum for a taste of Moldova's past. While you will see ancient artifacts from prehistoric times on display in this expansive museum, you will also see reminders of Moldova's grim Soviet past. See how much the country has changed through the centuries and get a feel for where it is heading as you explore the many halls and rooms of this national treasure.

Tips & Warnings

  • Romanian is the main language spoken in Moldova. However, you will likely find that many people you encounter in Chisinau speak English as well.
