Andorra is a small vacation spot located in the mountain range of the Pyrenees, between Spain and France. While its main industries were once smuggling tobacco and raising mules, it now enjoys a huge tourism industry and is especially popular for its offshore banking.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer with internet access for making hotel reservations as well as for checking the snow reports in the various resorts across the country.

Select Your Luxury Accommodations in Andorra

Step1
To book accommodations, contact Andorra Hoteliers Association at 011 (+376) 86 86 06 or visit the Web site (see Resources below). Stay for at least a few nights in the capital, Le Bella Andorra which in English means 'Andorra the Old.'
Step2
Consider a stay in the province of Sant Julia de Loria, where you can see exhibitions of native folk dances such as the contrapas and marratxa.
Step3
Look for luxury accomodations in Pas de la Casa, where you can ski by day and visit a colorful range of bars by evening. Another option is Soldeu, where everyone from the most beginning to the most advanced skier will enjoy the slopes and the apres-ski facilities.

Prepare for Your Trip to Andorra

Step1
Plan to rent a car, take a taxi or get a bus to Andorra from the airport. Decide whether to fly into the airport in Toulouse, France or the one in Barcelona, Spain.
Step2
Budget your trip accordingly. Rooms will cost between $20 and $80 depending on the quality. Meals will cost from $5 to $25.
Step3
Consider bringing along your favorite camping gear or investing in a lightweight tent and sleeping bag. This will enable you to enjoy some of the many camping grounds serving the more 'outdoorsy' tourists.

Enjoy the Many Attractions of Andorra

Step1
Travel to Andorra at the end of November to enjoy the Festival of St. Andrew. Visitors present on New Year's Eve will be treated to a beautiful fireworks display.
Step2
Make sure to visit the famous Church of Santa Coloma. Andorra's oldest church, it is mentioned in archives dating back as far as the 9th century. It also contains a freestanding bell from the 12th century.
Step3
Explore the old parliament building of Andorra La Vella. Enjoy the beautiful sites of this old section of town with stone streets and charming old houses. Make sure to find the Sant Esteve Church built in the eleventh century in the style of the Romans.
