Puerto Plata is the capital and the premier resort town of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. Located just west of Puerto Rico and east of Haiti (but on the same island mass), Puerto Plata is a beach destination to the north of the country. Most tourists stay at one of the ample all-inclusive resorts on the property close to Playa Dorada. Water sports, museums, mountain hikes and local markets make this community charming and friendly.
