Things You'll Need:
- Computer with Internet access for making reservations
-
Step 1
Fly into Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, but don't bring a lot of luggage. There are no luggage carts in the domestic terminal, although you can pay a porter to help you.
-
Step 2
Check with your hotel for a complimentary airport shuttle to and from San Juan Airport.
-
Step 3
Rent a car at the airport. All major chains operate here.
-
Step 1
Find luxurious accommodations in San Juan, Rincon, Dorado and other areas likely to have resort-style lodging. In the most highly rated 4 and 5-star establishments, you can pay several hundred dollars a night for well-appointed rooms and more than a thousand a night for presidential suites.
-
Step 2
Locate a bed and breakfast in San Juan or Rincon. While the rates are comparable at times to 3-star hotel rooms, the services are superior. You will get home-cooked meals, personalized attention and often an entire guesthouse to yourself.
-
Step 3
Travel to the south side of Puerto Rico to Ponce for truly affordable accommodations. Here, you can book a standard room for much less than $100 a night.
-
Step 4
Find moderately priced accommodations on Isla de Vieques on the southern coast of the island. Here, small establishments (with 10 rooms or so) are common and quaint. Rates can be well under $100 a night, although there are also very high-end luxury accommodations here that can cost you four times as much.

on 3/10/2008 Do not go to Puerto Rico if you are a dog lover as cruelty is the name of the game. For more information visit islanddog.org, saveagato.org or manosporpatas.org.
