How to Find Hotels in Odense, Denmark

Odense is a Danish city that seems to be overshadowed by Aarhus or Copenhagen, which is unfortunate. Odense features over 1,000 years of history to enjoy, plus tons of shops, museums, events and cultural attractions to make it a great stop on the way elsewhere in the country. You could easily spend a week in Odense and not see its full potential.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A valid passport from your nation of origin and all appropriate visas
  • A computer with Internet access in order to book accommodations online

Choose the Perfect Hotel in Odense, Denmark

Step1
Sleep in a manor hostel just outside the city center. Several beautiful medieval and renaissance buildings offer cheap rates (about $35 per night), as well as all the European ambiance you can handle.
Step2
Find high-end accommodations near the main train station, about two blocks from the city center. You'll pay for what you get (about $200 per night), but it's worth it for being close to the midpoint of the city.
Step3
Bring your golf clubs to Odense and play a round at the Odense Golf Club. Hotel guests in the area can easily grab a cab and head to the links for an afternoon.

Get in and Around Odense, Denmark

Step1
Reach Odense by train from Copenhagen or Billund Airports. Odense no longer offers commercial air travel.
Step2
Rest along the rails in accommodations that are near the train stations. Many visitors will take the train through Denmark and Odense and sleep in hotels along the route.
Step3
Do your shopping on foot in Odense. The biggest shopping district is only a few blocks from several major hotels, and the streets in the area are usually pedestrian-only.

Know Local Laws, Customs and Attractions of Odense, Denmark

Step1
Head out from the hotel and go to the Odense Aafart, the city's tour boat service. The Odense Creek tour stops at many attractions along the water's edge, including the Zoo and Fruens Bøge, close to the Funen Village.
Step2
Enjoy a little silliness at the Go-Kart Hall. Many locals and tourists gear up to bump and jostle one another; the hall is rarely empty, day or night.
Step3
Book accommodations in time to see exhibitions at the Hans Christian Andersen Museum. This is one of Odense's most popular tourist attractions, and draws visitors from around the world.
Step4
Stay near the Brandts Klædefabrik, one of the main cultural centers in Odense. Art and cultural exhibits are common, and there's a cafe and cinema if you just want to relax.
