  • Use the common Muslim practice of not eating with or offering your left hand.

  • Make sure you greet others. Ghanaians place high value on friendliness.

  • Don't take photographs of anyone in uniform without asking their permission. To do so might result in your camera and film being confiscated.

  • Be aware that corruption is rampant and police at checkpoints will often want money.

  • Malaria is widespread, and the risk of meningitis is high.

  • Yellow fever vaccination is required, and vaccinations are recommended for Hepatitis A and B, Cholera and Typhoid fever.
