    Find Your Accommodations

  1. Step 1

Expect to find some of the most luxurious hotels in the world in Cairo. Most of the five-star hotels have incredible views over the mighty Nile River. For $300 to $500 a night, you'll find beautifully appointed rooms, international fine dining options and superior resort services.

  2. Step 2

Be prepared for exceptional hotels to offer great rates on three- and four-star rooms. While the class rating of these hotels may be luxury, their prices are definitely mid-range by western standards, with rooms costing between $100 and $150.

  3. Step 3

Stray from the big-name international hotels for decent rooms at rock-bottom prices. Clean rooms at family-run hotels can cost as little as $15 a night, or as much as $50 a night, depending on the time of year and the location of the hotel.

  4. Step 4

Stay at Cairo's colonial gem, the Windsor Hotel, originally built in the early 1900s as royal baths. The hotel's Barrel Bar still retains its British charm, and is known as one of the best spots in Cairo for a beer.

  5. Step 5

Book in the Giza region for amazing panoramic views of the pyramids from the comfort of luxury accommodations.

  9. Step 2

Take a boat down one of the most famous rivers in the world--the Nile. You'll pay a little over $10 an hour for a scenic trip down the Nile.

  10. Step 3

Arrange a day trip to Giza to see the last remaining wonder of the ancient world. The biggest tourist attraction in Egypt has become an enduring symbol of both the country and regal power. Not to be missed, the Giza pyramids are an easy day trip from Cairo.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take your Nile cruise at night, when you can fully appreciate the brilliant stars away from the pollution of the big city.
  • Load up on bottled water. You'll need it in the intense Egyptian heat, and tap water is overchlorinated, making it unsafe to drink.
