Cleveland, Ohio, is located on the shores of Lake Erie. Noted as the point where the East Coast meets the Midwest, it is home to more golf courses per capita than any other city in the United States. Travel and Leisure magazine has named Cleveland one of the top 10 hotspots for international visitors.

Step1
Stay in centrally located accommodations for easy access to the Theater District and the Flats Entertainment District. Budget pricing for 3-star hotels can cost over $100 per night. Mid-range accommodations are in the area of $125 and up.

Choose accommodations in the vicinity of the Convention Center, the Flats and Historic Warehouse District. Prices for mid-range 3- and 4-star hotels start at $150. Find 5-star accommodations for around $200.

Stay in the heart of Cleveland's entertainment district. This will put you close to the Cleveland Browns Stadium, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and many Broadway-style theaters for about $125 a night and up.

Organize Your Transportation

Step1
Arrive by plane at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on the west side of Cleveland, Burke Lakefront Airport near downtown, Cuyahoga County Airport or Akron-Canton Regional Airport, about 45 minutes from Cleveland.
Step2
Take a cab from the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to downtown Cleveland, Ohio, for less than $2. The ride will take about 22 minutes.
Step3
Get around town easily by car from any direction. Use I-71 from the airport, I-90 to connect between the east and west sides of Cleveland and I-480 for east and west connections on the south side of town.
Step4
Find massive public transit available. You can pay $3.50 for an all-day pass for trains and buses.

Tips & Warnings

  • Know there are purple signs throughout downtown Cleveland, Ohio, to give visitors information about their location.
  • Realize the streets are numbered running north and south and are named "East" and "West" with Ontario as the dividing street.
  • Dress for summer temperatures in the 80s with high humidity. Prepare for winter lows, where the wind chill makes temperatures below 0 degrees F possible.
  • Avoid inner city neighborhoods and the City of East Cleveland at night.
  • Remember when an East Side suburban "road" becomes an inner city "avenue," turn around and find directions to Chester, Carnegie or Euclid Avenues.
  • Avoid the Public Housing Projects near the Flats, Tremont and Ohio City.
