How to Set the Store Preferences in iTunes

With the iTunes store, you can browse and download thousands of videos, audiobooks, podcasts and songs. When you set the store preferences in iTunes, you can streamline your iTunes Store experience to best fit your needs.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • iTunes account
  1. Step 1

    Run iTunes on your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Open the Preferences menu. Click Edit and then Preferences.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the Store tab.

  4. Step 4

    Use 1-click shopping. If you select Buy and Download using 1-click, your account will be charged and your downloads will begin immediately when you click a Buy button.

  5. Step 5

    Use a shopping cart. If you check Buy Using a Shopping Cart, items will go into your shopping cart when you click Buy. In order to be charged and begin your download, you'll have to check out and confirm your order.

  6. Step 6

    Automatically download pre-purchased content. Some items on iTunes are subscriptions. When you check this option, you will automatically download new episodes or podcasts when they are available.

  7. Step 7

    Automatically create playlists when buying song collections. This will set up a playlist in your library when you buy a compilation or album from the iTunes Store.

  8. Step 8

    Load Complete Preview before playing. Check this option if you have a slow connection. Otherwise, the preview will stream and could have choppy playback.

  9. Step 9

    Click OK to apply.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can press Ctrl and the Comma key to open the Preferences menu.
  • Even with 1-click shopping, you'll still have to enter your password in order to log in and buy music.
  • 1-Click shopping is convenient, but may lead to more impulse buys.
