How to Back Up Videos Purchased From the iTunes Store Using iTunes 5 or 6

With Apple's iTunes, you can easily back up all or part of your music or video library. If you want to back up the videos you purchased from the iTunes Store, follow the steps below.

Things You'll Need:

  • Apple iTunes 5 or 6
  • Computer
  • Blank CD or DVD
  1. Step 1

    Open iTunes on your computer.

  2. Step 2

    Select the "Preferences" option from the list.

  3. Step 3

    Choose "Advanced," and then "Burning."

  4. Step 4

    Choose "Data CD or DVD." Click "OK."

  5. Step 5

    Choose "Purchased" from the "Source" box. (If you don't already have a "Purchased" playlist, you can create one using the Smart Playlist feature.) Decide what storage media you'll need to accommodate the size of your file.

  6. Step 6

    Select the "Burn Disc" icon at the top of the screen. Insert the CD or DVD in your computer when prompted.

  7. Step 7

    When the disk is finished, label it and store it in a safe place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check that you have enough space on your disk for the backup.
  • You are allowed to burn any purchased song from the iTunes store only once.
  • Don't open the disk drive while the disk is being burned.
