Your iTunes folder is a personal library that probably took much time and effort to compile. If you have a DVD burner and iTunes 7, you can protect your iTunes library by copying the folder onto a backup DVD. Safeguard these files by following these steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Apple iTunes 7
  • Computer with DVD burner
  • Blank DVD

Step1
Open iTunes.
Step2
Click "File" and choose "Back Up to Disc."
Step3
Choose from the options offered: backup your entire library, only purchases from the iTunes store or only items added or changed since the last backup. Then click "Back Up Now."
Step4
Insert a blank DVD when instructed. Burning will begin automatically.
Step5
Label your backup disc when it's done and store it in a safe place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep the DVD drive closed while burning the disc
  • Backup DVDs can only be used to restore files. They cannot be played in a DVD player.
