The Archos 104 MP3 is designed for use with the Windows Media Player. However, if you are using iTunes to store and organize your music, you can still transfer files between your computer and the Archos with a few easy steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Archos 104 MP3 player
  • USB cable
  • Computer
  • Apple iTunes
  1. Step 1

On your Archos 104, go to the Setup menu by pressing the "Menu" button, then "Enter."

  2. Step 2

Select "System" and press "Enter." In the System menu, change the "USB Port" setting to "Hard Disk" (if it's not already set).

  3. Step 3

With your computer on, plug a USB cable into an empty USB slot on your computer and plug the other end of the USB plug into your MP3 player.

  4. Step 4

On your computer, look on the desktop (Mac) or in "My Computer" (PC) for a new hard drive icon called "Archos 104." Click to open.

  5. Step 5

Find the "Music" folder and double click to open.

  6. Step 6

Open your iTunes program and find the files that you want to copy to your MP3 player.

  7. Step 7

Drag the music files from your iTunes program into the open "Music" folder on your MP3 player hard drive.

  8. Step 8

When you are finished, close the iTunes program and any open Archos files that are running in any application.

  9. Step 9

For PC: Right click on the USB icon. On your Start menu toolbar, click on "Disconnect Archos 104 MP3 Player" and then click on the "OK" button. Or click on the safe remove icon in the system tray at the bottom right of your desktop. For Mac: Drag the Archos 104 hard drive icon to the trash can.

  10. Step 10

Remove the device by unplugging the USB cable when the computer instructs you do to so.

Tips & Warnings
  • Test the files before you leave your home to make sure they play.
  • Don't unplug the USB cable without first performing Step 9 to disconnect the MP3 player from your computer.
