How to Connect a Treo Smartphone to a Computer

Is there a way to transfer information from your computer to your Treo Smartphone and back? Can you hook directly into the computer or do you need to go through an intermediary site? The capability is built directly into the phone. It just takes a few simple steps to connect your Treo Smartphone to your computer.

Instructions

1. Take the CD that you received with your Palm Treo and place it into your computer. The install package should pop up on your screen.

2. Follow the CD's onscreen instructions and install the Active-Sync software.

3. Connect the Active-Sync cable to your PC.

4. Connect your Palm Treo when prompted to do so. The Treo should be connected to the Active-Sync cable opposite your PC.

5. Press the "Sync" button on the cable.

6. Wait for the Treo to finish the syncing operation. Your Treo is now synced with your PC and ready to use.

Tips & Warnings

• Follow the instructions on the screen exactly. If you do not follow the instructions, you will risk damaging the capability of your Treo to sync with your PC.

• Make sure that your Treo is fully charged prior to starting this operation.

• If you use a Mac, you will need to open the CD to start the installation process.

• You must have admin privileges to install the software. If you do not, contact your administrator to obtain this right.
