With the parental controls on your CD/DVD player, you can keep tabs on what your kids are watching. Find out how to change the parental control password for the Sony DVPNS50P CD/DVD player.
Connect your player to the TV according to the instructions.

Turn on the television and DVD player. Make sure the television is on the correct channel.

Decide what kind of parental control you prefer. If you want to lock individual DVDs, see Steps 5 and 6. If you want to lock the player based on the age of a viewer, see Steps 7 and 8.

Insert the DVD that you want to block into the player. While the player is in Stop mode, press "Display" on your remote control. Use the "Up" and "Down" arrows to select the Parental Control icon. Press "Enter" to bring up the Parental Control menu.

Use the "Up" and "Down" arrows to select "On." It will prompt you choose a password. Use the digit keys on the remote control to enter the password.
Step6
Press the "Display" button while the player is stopped. Navigate to the Parental Control icon and press "Enter" on the remote control. Select the "Player" option.
Step7
Customize the level for locking the player. Use the "Up" and "Down" arrows and the "Enter" key to choose one of the options. If you have any questions about the levels, refer to your owner's manual.
Tips & Warnings
The Parental Control icon looks like a DVD with a lock over the top of it.
If you forget your parental control password, enter 199703 from the Custom Parental Control screen. This will allow you to change your password.
You can lock up to 40 videos using the Lock DVD setting. Once you lock the 41st video, it will unlock the first one.
