Connect the Sony DVP-C670D CD/DVD Player to a 5.1 channel surround amplifier and experience movie theater sound without leaving the house. By splitting the audio signal into five speakers and routing the low-end frequencies to a sub-woofer, the 5.1 channel amp envelops you in the action, whether it's a movie or a concert. Follow these steps to connect the Sony DVP-C670D CD/DVD Player to a 5.1 channel surround amplifier.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 5.1 Channel Surround Amplifier
  • Sony DVP-C670D CD/DVD Player
Step1
Get two stereo audio cables long enough to easily reach from the Sony DVP-C670D CD/DVD Player to your 5.1 channel amplifier. These cables will hook up the front left and right and back left and right channels.
Step2
Hook up the stereo audio cables to the Sony DVP-C670D CD/DVD player’s "5.1 Channel Output" section. Match the color-coded plugs to their corresponding output jacks.
Step3
Get two mono audio cables. These cables will take care of the center channel and the sub-woofer. Connect one of the cables to the "Center Output" jack. Plug the other cable into the "Sub-woofer Output" jack.
Step4
Find the 5.1 channel input section on the back panel of your 5.1 channel amplifier. Make your front and rear connections using the stereo audio cables. Match red to red and white to white.
Step5
Connect the center mono cable to the center channel input on your 5.1 amplifier. Hook up the sub-woofer cable to the sub-woofer input.
Step6
Run the connections from your 5.1 channel amplifier to your stereo speakers and sub-woofer amplifier.

Tips & Warnings

  • Double-check your connections. When you are dealing with this many cables, it is easy to make mistakes. Make sure that left front out goes to left front in, right front out goes to right front in and so on.
  • Use masking tape to make labels for the front and back stereo audio cables. Also use the masking tape to label the mono audio cables so that you don’t mix up the center and sub-woofer channels.
  • Do not make connections while your Sony DVP-C670D CD/DVD Player or 5.1 channel amplifier are on. Also make sure that the sub-woofer amplifier is off.
