How to Insert Shure EC2 Sound Isolating Earphones

Choose and Attach the Correct Earphone Sleeve

The EC2 comes with several choices of sleeves that fit over the earphone stem. Choose from small, medium or large flex sleeves or soft flex sleeves, or the self-adjusting foam sleeves.

Choose the sleeve that fits most comfortably in your ear canal and forms a tight seal, but is easy to remove.

Slide the earphone stem into the sleeve.

Check the sleeve to make sure that it is firmly attached to the earphone stem.
Insert Earphones Without Sleeves into Your Ears

Check the right and left markings on the earphones to be sure you're inserting the correct earphone into the correct ear.

Hold the earphone even with your ear canal, and carefully press the earphone sleeve into the ear.

Twist slightly back and forth to seat earphones properly.
Insert Earphones with Foam Sleeves into Your Ear

Compress foam sleeve between your thumb and forefinger.

Press the sleeve into the ear canal.

Hold the earphone in place for about ten seconds while the foam expands to create a tight seal.

Tips & Warnings
Use a slow twisting motion to remove earphones from your ears.
Use wax guards on the ear nozzles to prevent wax buildup from impairing the sound and harboring infection.
The earphone sleeves may work loose during storage. Always check to be sure that the sleeves are securely attached to the earphone before inserting in your ear.
If a sleeve becomes lodged in you ear, consult a medical professional. Do not attempt to remove it yourself.
If you are using the earphones to connect to an airline audio system, use a lower volume to prevent discomfort from loud messages from the pilot.
