The Bose Quiet Comfort 3 headphones are ideal for use on airline flights. The noise reduction technology cuts the ambient noise—especially the sound of the engines—by over 70%, allowing you to enjoy your audio experience. If you intend to use your Bose headphones with the airline stereo system, you may need to use the included dual plug adaptor. To use the Bose headphones with an airline stereo system, first find out whether the airline audio system requires a single plug or dual plug jack, then follow the steps below.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Bose Quiet Comfort 3 Noise Canceling Headphones
  • Double plug audio jack adapter

Connecting the Bose Headphones to a Single Plug Jack

Step1
Locate the headphones audio cord. It is a long, thin cord with a small plug at each end.
Step2
Plug the headphone end of the audio cord into the left earcup of your headphones.
Step3
Plug the other end of the audio cord into the supplied dual plug adapter.
Step4
Swivel the lower plug so that it snaps into place against the body of the adaptor plug.
Step5
Plug the other end of the headphone audio cord into the dual plug adaptor.
Step6
Plug the adaptor into the single jack output on the airline’s audio system.
Step7
Adjust the volume to low before turning on power to the headphones.
Step8
Put on the headphones, making sure that the earcup marked with an L is on your left ear and the one with an R is on the right.
Step9
Turn on the power using the power switch on the headphones. The power indicator light on the right earcup should light up.
Step10
Adjust the volume on the audio device to which you’re listening.

Connecting the Bose Headphones to a Dual Plug Jack

Step1
Plug the headphones cord jack into the supplied dual plug adapter. Make sure that both prongs of the plug are extended.
Step2
Plug the headphone end of the cord into the left earcup of the headphones.
Step3
Plug the adapter into the airline audio system.
Step4
Wear your headphones and listen.

Tips & Warnings

  • The dual plug adapter is designed to reduce the volume on the strong audio signals that are commonly used by airline sound systems. If the volume is too low when using the dual plug adapter, you can plug the audio cord directly into the system’s 3.5 mm output jack.
  • Always start with the volume low and increase it to your comfort level. Sudden loud blasts of noise can damage your hearing.
