Select your blogging platform. There are many blogging services available; some free services include Blogger, WordPress.com and Tumblr. Services that you pay for are generally more powerful, and include Squarespace and Moveable Type. Select you platform and create a login and password.

Add your information to your blog using the settings panel. The interface may seem confusing at first, but blogging platforms are designed to be easy to use for inexperienced users. If you're confused, click "Help" or "Support" for instructions. Most blogs include an "About" page, a "Contact" page and some topic-specific links. If your blog provider allows you to import your Facebook or Twitter profile, you may wish to add it for promotional or contact reasons.

Change the visual settings of your blog. Nearly every blogging platform allows you to add or remove visual elements, though some are more complicated than others. If you want to change the look and feel of your blog quickly and easily, consider adding one of the default blog themes. Remember that you can change these settings at any time.

Use your own domain to give your blog a more professional feel -- for example, the custom domain "www.myawesomeblog.com" instead of "myawesomeblog.blogger.com" -- and connect your domain to the blogging service. The method is different with each service, and some charge an extra fee to redirect the domain. You also need to change the server settings with your domain registrar.
