Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Consider the different types of car alarms that are available for your SUV.
Step2
Research locking based systems. The one of the most popular is central locking, which locks all your doors and windows with a turn of the key and can be controlled remotely from a key fob. Another popular system is a deadlock, which prevent the doors from opening if the windows are smashed. Decide whether or not one of these systems seems like enough for you.
Step3
Want something more? Consider using an immobilizer, and there are two types to look into. The first is a physical immobilizer that features bars that lock the steering wheel to the gear shift or accelerator. An electronic immobilizer stops the engine from turning on if the car has been broken into.
Step4
Like bells and whistles? You might consider looking into a traditional siren alarm.
Step5
Look into a vehicle tracking system that can pinpoint your vehicle by satellite if it is stolen.
Step6
Review your research and choose the system that's right for you.
