If you connect the Primare DVD26 DVD player to an HDTV using the component color progressive scan outputs you will see a marked improvement in the picture quality. Progressive scan technology gives you a smoother, sharper image so your Primare DVD Player can really show off what HDTV can do. Follow these steps to connect the Primare DVD26 DVD Player to an HDTV.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • primare dvd26 dvd player
  • component video cable
  • hdtv with progressive scan capability
  1. Step 1

Get a component video cable. A component video cable allows you to split the video signal from the Primare DVD26 DVD player into 3 parts, which gives you superior color image.

  2. Step 2

Insert the color-coded plugs of the component video cable into the matching output jacks on the Primare DVD26 DVD player. You can find the 3 progressive scan outputs on the back panel of the player. They are labeled (from left to right) Y, Pb and Pr.

  3. Step 3

Match the green color-coded plug to the Y output, blue to Pb and red to Pr. Run the composite video cable from the Primare DVD26 DVD player to your HD TV.

  4. Step 4

Find the progressive scan component video input jacks on your HDTV. They should be on the back panel of the television, but some manufacturers may vary the location.

  5. Step 5

Insert the color-coded plugs to their matching inputs. Remember, green goes to the Y input, blue to the Pb input and red to the Pr input.

  6. Step 6

Turn on the HDTV and the Primare DVD26 DVD player. Insert a movie and hit play to test your connections. If you need to make adjustments, turn off the player and television before making changes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that your Primare DVD26 DVD player and your high definition television are turned off before connecting the devices.
  • An output jack labeled Pb indicates a progressive scan component video that handles the color blue. Cb indicates a common, interlaced scan component video that handles blue.
  • Why does a green plug go to a jack labeled Y? Because composite video cables came first, and are color-coded yellow, manufacturers did not want consumers to mistakenly plug their component video into the composite video jacks.
  • If you plug the component video cable into the component video input or output jacks labeled Cr and Cb you will not get progressive scan picture quality.
