How to Connect the Panasonic DVD-LV57 Portable DVD Player to a 2-Channel Amplifier With Digital Connections

Connect the Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player to a 2-channel amplifier with digital connections and add a new dimension to the sound that comes with your movies. All you need is a digital optical cable to make the connection between your Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player and a digital capable amplifier. Follow these steps to connect the Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player to a 2-channel amplifier with digital connections.

Things You'll Need:

  • panasonic dvd-lv57 portable dvd player
  • digital optical cable with mini-jack connector
  • 2-channel amplifier
  1. Step 1

    Prepare to link up your DVD player by turning off the Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player and the 2-channel amplifier.

  2. Step 2

    Get an optical fiber cable that has a mini-jack connector and a digital optical connector. Plug in the mini-jack end into the Audio Output jack on right-hand side of Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player.

  3. Step 3

    Take the digital optical connector end to the digital optical input on your 2-channel amplifier. Plug in the optical cable.

  4. Step 4

    Switch on your Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player and the 2-channel amplifier. Set the volume on each unit to an acceptable level.

  5. Step 5

    Turn off the DTS surround sound if your have plugged into an amplifier that does not have a built-in DTS decoder. Go to the Audio menu and select DTS Digital Surround and then turn the feature off.

  6. Step 6

    Turn off the bit stream option if you are connected to an amplifier without a built-in Dolby Digital decoder. Go to the Audio menu and select Dolby Digital. Change the setting to PCM.

  7. Step 7

    Insert a DVD or CD in the player and check your connection and settings. Make adjustments as necessary to optimize your sound.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dolby Digital Bit stream is automatically preset by the factory in the Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player. You will need to change this setting if you are hooked up to an amplifier without a decoder.
  • Consider getting an adaptor if you are having problems finding a digital optical cable that has a mini-jack connector.
  • Avoid operating the Panasonic DVD-LV57 portable DVD player in extreme temperatures.
  • If you do not turn off the bit stream option in Dolby Digital when you are hooked up to an amplifier, the resulting noise can damage your speakers.
