Adjusting the Parental Control settings on the Coby DVD-514 Compact 5.1 Channel Progressive Scan DVD Play is very simple. The Parental Control settings allow parents to ensure that their children are watching age appropriate shows and without having to worry about them seeing inappropriate shows. Follow these steps to adjust the Parental Control settings on the Coby DVD-514 Compact 5.1 Channel Progressive Scan DVD Player.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Enter Setup Mode. Press Setup on the remote control to enter Setup mode.

  2. Step 2

    Utilize the Navigation keys to choose what you want. Once you enter Parental Control settings, they will ask you to enter a password, the default password is 8888. The Parental Control option gives you levels 1-8 to choose from, 8 being rated R or higher and 1 being rated G.

  3. Step 3

    Press Enter. This will verify the Parental Control level you desire.

  4. Step 4

    Exit the Set Up Mode. Click Setup to exit the Setup mode.

  • The Parental Rating System: 1. Child Safe 2. G - Suitable for general audiences. 3. PG - Parental guidance is recommended. 4. PG-13 - Parental guidance is recommended, not suitable for children under 13. 5. Unrated 6. R - Restricted, violence, adult language and situation unsuitable for young viewers 7. NC-17 - Adult theme or content, not suitable for kids under 17. 8. Adult - Adult content.
  • Once you have set the parental control settings, you should change the password to your own. Enter the given password (8888) once, enter in the new password one time, and then enter in the new password a second time. You want to enter the new password a second time because it will confirm your new password.
  • Write your password on a piece of paper and put it in a safe place because this password cannot be changed.
  • If you forget your password, you will not be able to change the Parental Control settings ever.
