How to Display Subtitles With the Meridian 596 DVD Player

Most new DVDs now come standard with subtitles in many different languages. You can display subtitles with the Meridian 596 DVD player in 32 different languages. All you need is your remote.

Things You’ll Need:

• Remote control
• Meridian 596 DVD Player

1. Connect your Meridian 596 DVD player to a TV or other display source. Refer to the instructions in your user’s manual to get your Meridian 596 DVD Player set up safely and properly.
2. Turn on your Meridian 596 DVD player and your TV or display source. Insert a DVD. You can adjust the subtitle setting in the menu screen of your DVD, or while the DVD is playing.
3. Push the "OSD" (On Screen Display) button twice on your remote. This will bring up the second on-screen display bar, which shows the current subtitle setting on the far left of the bar. Here you will see a three-letter abbreviation for the subtitle language and the number of subtitle languages to choose from.
4. Push "Function Subtitle." This selects the subtitle language. Pressing "Function Subtitle" again lets you switch to the next subtitle language.

Tips & Warnings

• Push "Subtitle" to quickly toggle the subtitle display on or off. The on-screen display will pop up on your screen for a few seconds, showing you whether the subtitles are on or off.
• If you do not see a three-letter abbreviation like the one above, you may have pressed the OSD button too few or too many times, and have accessed a different on-screen display bar.
• Subtitles can only be viewed for the languages available on the DVD you are watching.
