How to Attach the Cradle to the Mounting Arm of Your Meade DS-2000 Series Reflecting Telescope

Here are some easy steps to attach the cradle (the part of the tripod that holds the optical tube) to the mounting arm of your Meade DS-2000 Series Reflecting Telescope.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

• Phillips screwdriver

1. Remove the four screws from the mounting-arm shaft, using a Phillips screwdriver.
2. Line up the cradle with the mounting-arm shaft.
3. Find the molded “key” on the cradle that fits into a slot on the shaft.
4. Line up the key with the slot and slide the cradle onto the shaft. This automatically lines up the mating threads on the shaft and cradle.
5. Replace the four screws you removed from the mounting arm shaft into the mating threads.
6. You are now ready to attach and balance your optical tube.

• Always loosen the tripod lock knob before closing the tripod.
