Here are some easy steps to attach the cradle (the part of the tripod that holds the optical tube) to the mounting arm of your Meade DS-2000 Series Reflecting Telescope.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Phillips screwdriver

Step1
Remove the four screws from the mounting-arm shaft, using a Phillips screwdriver.
Step2
Line up the cradle with the mounting-arm shaft.
Step3
Find the molded “key” on the cradle that fits into a slot on the shaft.
Step4
Line up the key with the slot and slide the cradle onto the shaft. This automatically lines up the mating threads on the shaft and cradle.
Step5
Replace the four screws you removed from the mounting arm shaft into the mating threads.
Step6
You are now ready to attach and balance your optical tube.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always loosen the tripod lock knob before closing the tripod.
