How to Display Subtitles With the Meridian 598 DVD Player

New DVDs come loaded with tons of complex features, but what if all you want to do is get to the subtitles? You can display subtitles with the Meridian 598 DVD player in any language provided for on a DVD video disc. No need to mess with mazes of menus; you can do it with the push of a button.

Step1

Make sure your Meridian 598 DVD player is connected properly to a TV or display source. For the best results, consult the sample configuration in your owner’s manual.

Step2

Turn on your Meridian 598 DVD player and your TV or display source. Open the tray and insert your DVD video disc. Wait for the DVD’s main menu screen to appear.

Press the “OSD” button located on your remote two times. The second on-screen menu bar displays. On the left portion of the bar, you will see a three-letter abbreviation for the subtitle language, and next to it will be the subtitle number and the number of subtitles available. For example, ENG 1/3 means English is the first subtitle available out of three.

Step4

Push the “Function Subtitle” button to select the subtitle language. Keep pushing “Function Subtitle” to switch to the next available languages. The second on-screen menu bar will disappear shortly after you have selected a subtitle language.

Tips & Warnings

You can select the subtitle setting at the DVD’s main menu or while the DVD is playing.
Pushing the “Subtitle” button on your remote quickly turns the selected subtitle language on or off. This briefly displays the second on-screen menu bar. You will see “Off” where you would normally see the subtitle language if you have toggled subtitles off.
Subtitles are not stored in the Meridian 598 DVD player and can only be displayed in languages provided on the DVD video disc.
