How to Connect the Helios H4000 HD Upscaling DVD Player to a 5.1 Channel Amplifier

The Helios H4000 HD Upscaling DVD Player allows you to convert output from standard-definition DVDs to higher resolution output for HDTVs. Another benefit of the Helios H4000 is the ability to connect it to a 5.1 channel amplifier in order to experience surround sound. Choose from three methods to connect the Helios H4000 HD Upscaling DVD Player to a 5.1 channel amplifier.

Things You’ll Need:

• H4000 HD Upscaling DVD Player
• Cables
• 5.1 Channel Amplifier

1. Consult your owner’s manual to help you locate the audio output sockets on the rear of the DVD player. These are optical, coaxial and 5.1 audio outputs.
2. Coaxial output and optical output allow you to connect just one cable from the DVD player to the amplifier. They both carry digital audio.
3. Plug the coaxial cable into the coaxial output, or plug the optical cable into the optical output on the DVD player. Plug the other end of either cable into the appropriate port on your 5.1 channel amplifier.
4. You may also connect the 5.1 audio outputs on the rear of the DVD player. You will need six audio cables for Front L, Front R, Center, Subwoofer, Surround L and Surround R.
5. Plug the cables for each of the six channels on the DVD player into the corresponding six inputs on the amplifier.
6. Press the "Setup" button on the DVD player’s remote control. Use the onscreen menu to select the correct digital output mode in the Sound menu.
7. Configure your speaker system using the onscreen menus.
