The Panasonic DVD-LV57 Portable DVD Player makes it possible to record sound to a MiniDisc. To do this, you must attach a MiniDisc recording device to the unit with an optical fiber cable. Once the two machines are connected, your recorded media can be transferred from one machine to the other.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • MiniDisc player and media
  • Panasonic DVD-LV57 Portable DVD Player

Step1
Attach one end of optical fiber cable to the audio optical output terminal on the right side of your DVD player.
Step2
Attach the opposite end of the optical fiber cable to the optical input terminal of the MiniDisc player.
Step3
Insert a MiniDisc into the MiniDisc player.
Step4
Begin the recording process by following the recorder’s instructions. In some form or another, you will play the recording on your Panasonic DVD-LV57 Portable DVD Player while recording the material with the MiniDisc player.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not move or bend the optical fiber cable during the recording process.
  • Your audio settings may need to be adjusted for the recording to be successful. Make sure that your PCM Down Conversion is set to “Yes” and that your Dolby Digital setting is set to “PCM.”
  • Different recording systems are capable of handling different media formats and audio settings. Connecting two machines without modifying audio input and output settings can be risky. To ensure the safety of your equipment and the quality of your recording, double-check the required audio input and output settings of the machines to make sure they are compatible.
