If you go to USC, UCLA, LMU or FIDM, it's easy to stay in your local city and not explore all that LA has to offer. But, if you want to branch out and know some key places to go, you will have a much more rewarding experience.
There is amazing shopping everywhere in LA, but the hot spots are on Rodeo and Robertson in Beverly Hills. The clothes tend to be on the expensive to very expensive side, but it's worth the trip; celebrities flock to these areas every weekend and there are tons of fun cafes and resturants to try.
Step2
If you want to find great beaches, hit up Manhattan or Hermosa Beach or Malibu. You can lay out, swim, surf, or just walk up and down the boardwalks at these locations. Plus, they all have a fun bar scene and plenty of young people to party with.
Step3
If you live anywhere in the Los Angeles area it should be mandatory that you go to Hollywood at least once. Whether you hike to the Hollywood sign or go party in trendy bars on Sunset and La Cienga, you must visit this part of town.
Step4
For a more casual atmosphere, try Pasadena. Colorado Avenue offers a HUGE selection of shops and resturants that are date and large-group friendly. They are famous for "21 Choices;" a delicious frozen yogurt store.
Step5
Have fun with this holiday- it's another excuse to celebrate!. Throw a party for your friends and watch the ground hog do his thing!
Step6
If you are at a loss for where to go, simply get in your car, drive around, and go exploring. You never know where you might end up!
