How to Have a Marshmallow Fight

Marshmallows don’t have to be mere campfire fodder; they make great missiles too! Indoor, outdoor or in-between, miniature marshmallows and PVC pipe combine for a fun, low-cost, low-mess, free-for-all. Follow these steps to have a marshmallow fight.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Pipe cutter
  • Mop or sponge
  • Miniature marshmallows
  • PVC pipe
  • De-greasing cleaner
  • Willing participants (the more the merrier)

Step1
Cut clean, white PVC plumbing pipe into 8-inch sections using a hand-held pipe cutter.
Step2
Hand sections of pipe to marshmallow fight participants.
Step3
Open several bags of miniature marshmallows to have ready for re-loading.
Step4
Begin shooting. Place a marshmallow inside the tube, inhale, place your mouth on the tube (at the marshmallow end), aim at a combatant and then blow!
Step5
Repeat until you are all rolling on the floor laughing or have stepped on all the miniature marshmallows lying on the ground.

Tips & Warnings

  • Stale marshmallows fly best. Open your ammunition bags the day before the big fight to let the marshmallows lose moisture.
  • Plan your marshmallow fight for a time when you’ll have willing company—a birthday party, a Fourth of July barbecue or Christmas Eve.
  • Miniature marshmallows make a mess when ground into the linoleum, and even your Labrador won’t be able to lick them up. Mop them up with hot water and a household degreasing cleaner. They’ll disappear like magic.
  • Colored miniature marshmallows would make a pretty sight flying across a spring garden at Easter.
  • Always teach children to inhale away from the blow-pipe before the fracas, so they don’t inhale marshmallows by mistake.
  • Beware of party poopers. Be sure to invite participants who don’t mind being pelted with small objects. Nothing kills a marshmallow fight like a non-participant predicting eye damage, noting marshmallow cement on the floors or complaining about food waste.
  • Don’t let your animals clean up the mess. Marshmallows aren’t good for animals. They can swell and cause painful or dangerous blockage if eaten by pets.
  • Discourage full-scale devouring of mini-marshmallows, especially the ones off the floor, by small children. Allowing the marshmallows to become stale overnight will help prevent consumption of the ammunition.

on 6/13/2007 I remember a while back our boy scout troop did this, it was a great and fun idea. A good idea is to have a little person with you and carry a bag of marshmallows
