Telescopes allow you to get a better view of objects in the sky. You need to properly focus to get a sharp image of the object under view. Focusing a Sky-Watcher SK705AZ3 Refractor Telescope can be done in a few steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate the focus knobs on your Sky-Watcher telescope assembly.

  2. Step 2

Gently turn the knobs, either way, with an eye on the object.

  3. Step 3

Use a trial and error method to get the sharpest possible image. Know that you have successfully focused the object when you reach a point where the sharpness of the image decreases on turning the knob either clockwise or anticlockwise.

  4. Step 4

Ensure that your telescope stays focused for a while.

  5. Step 5

Repeat the activity whenever you change the lens or eyepiece.

Tips & Warnings
  • Focus your telescope often. Minute changes in the temperature and flexures can alter its focus.
  • Ensure that your Finderscope is aligned and your eyepiece is inserted properly before you begin focusing.
  • Avoid leaning on to the telescope while focusing. Doing so will disturb the balance of you telescope and you will need to re-adjust the tripod.
