How to Attach the Finderscope to the Sky-Watcher SK705AZ3 Short Tube Refractor Telescope

The Finderscope is a tool mounted on a telescope to help you target an astronomical object. It is also called a Red Dot Finder. The Finderscope does not have high magnification power but is equipped with variable brightness control, azimuth adjustment control and altitude adjustment options. The method to attach the Finderscope to your telescope depends on its size.

Instructions

    Attaching Small Finderscope

  1. Step 1

    Locate the Finderscope optical assembly.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the thumbscrews situated at the end of the main body of the telescope.

  3. Step 3

    Place the Finderscope bracket over the screws in the telescope main body.

  4. Step 4

    Replace the thumbscrews at their position. This will secure the Finderscope in its place.

  5. Attaching Large Finderscope

  6. Step 1

    Look for the Finderscope bracket and remove the rubber-o-ring attached to it.

  7. Step 2

    Place the ring into the groove on the Finderscope tube.

  8. Step 3

    Slide the Finderscope into the rectangular slot provided.

  9. Step 4

    Tighten the thumbscrews to fix the assembly.

  • Align the Finderscope properly with the main telescope before using.
  • Read the instruction manual before beginning with the assembling procedure.
  • Ensure that you have enough light and space while working on the assembly.
  • Avoid touching your telescope parts with greasy hands. The telescope parts may get damaged or useless for viewing.
