Focusing is the most important factor when you use a telescope for the first time. It is very likely that the telescope is out of focus at the initial stage. By appropriate focusing, the images or objects that look blurred become gradually clearer. A Sky-Watcher SK707AZ2 Refractor Telescope has a focal length of 700 mm for better viewing. Here is how to focus the Sky-Watcher SK707AZ2 Refractor Telescope.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Identify the focus knobs on the assembly to view from the telescope.

  2. Step 2

Bring the object to be viewed in the tube range. Turn the focusing screws so as to receive the sharpest image. Once the sharpness decreases, turn the knob the other way round.

  3. Step 3

Find if the image is getting blurred. Keep focusing on it again in the similar way until you get a clearer image.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the activity whenever you change the lens.

Tips & Warnings
  • Focus the telescope before every use. Telescopes with a short focal ratio require focusing time and again because of the minute changes in the temperature changes and flexure.
  • Focus the telescope every time you change the lens, eyepiece or insert or remove a Barlow lens. Otherwise you may get a distorted image.
  • Do not touch any optical surface while focusing the telescope.
  • Do not clean any optical surface unless you know the appropriate cleaning process.
