Closed-circuit televisions generally monitor public places for crime and safety. However, some private citizens are now using them in their homes. Read on to decide whether a closed-circuit TV would make an appropriate addition to your home.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide whether you need the sophisticated technology of a closed-circuit TV. This device uses a video camera to send signals to a monitor and produce clear images. It does not receive the same signals as a traditional television.

  2. Step 2

Choose a location for the video camera and the monitor.

  3. Step 3

Install the device using the manufacturer's directions.

  4. Step 4

Synchronize the camera to the closed-circuit television, again using the manufacturer's directions.

  5. Step 5

Use the closed-circuit television to monitor activities in your home. Often you can set the television to record tapes that you can review later.
