You can optimize your home's safety by attaching a security camera to your computer. Follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the room in which you will be installing the camera, then decide on the height and angle at which the camera will be installed.

  2. Step 2

Find the mounting bracket that came with the camera. Hold the bracket in place with one hand and use a pencil to mark the screw holes with the other hand.

  3. Step 3

Determine if the screw holes will be in a stud. Use a stud finder from a home improvement store if necessary.

  4. Step 4

If you will not be screwing the screws into a stud, use a drywall anchor bolt for each screw.

  5. Step 5

Predrill a hole into the stud. Use a drill bit slightly smaller than the screw you will use to mount the bracket.

  6. Step 6

Alternatively, drill a hole for the drywall anchor bolt and insert the anchor bolt into the drywall.

  7. Step 7

Holding the mounting bracket in place, insert the screws into the predrilled holes or the drywall anchor bolts.

  8. Step 8

Place the camera onto the mounting bracket.

  9. Step 9

Plug the camera into an outlet.

  10. Step 10

Sync the camera to the base station following the manufacturer's directions.

  11. Step 11

Plug the camera's USB cord into the camera.

  12. Step 12

Plug the other end of the USB cord into the computer.
