How to Use Smartfinder with Your Meade LX-90 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope

The Smartfinder on the Meade LX-90 makes it simple for you to find constellations. Here's how to target your favorite stars:

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Set up the telescope in an open area.

  2. Step 2

    Mount the Smartfinder to the top of your telescope.

  3. Step 3

    Aim the telescope at an earthbound object.

  4. Step 4

    Adjust the alignment screws on the Smartfinder until the image centers on the Smartfinder and in the telescope viewer.

  5. Step 5

    Point the telescope at a terrestrial body.

  6. Step 6

    Using the Smartfinder, view a planet and center it on the X.

  7. Step 7

    Look through the telescope lens and view the terrestrial body.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use only finger strength to tighten the knobs on the Smartfinder. Overtightening can strip the screws and permanently damage the tripod and your telescope.
