1. Take a look around your room. Decide which elements you want to highlight and where you need to have light.

2. Determine how much lighting you will need to illuminate any artwork, plants, unique room features or activity areas that you have in your room.

3. Decide which areas of the room would benefit from highlights with track lighting and which areas would benefit from other types of light.

4. Choose the track heads/fixtures that will work best in your room.

5. Determine the length of track and number of track heads you need for your lighting needs.

6. View catalogs and visit lighting supply stores until you find the right lighting for your room.

• Consult an associate at the store to determine what parts you will need to install your lighting, such as heads, tracks and connectors.
• Be sure that the track, connectors and track heads that you buy are all the same brand and therefore compatible.
