How to Attach the Tripod to the Meade LX90 SchmidtCassegrain Telescope Assembly

The tripod for the Meade LX90 telescope assembly is critical to the functioning of your new telescope. To attach the tripod to the Meade LX90 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, follow these few simple instructions.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Meade LX90 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope
  1. Step 1

    Remove the field tripod from the carrying case.

  2. Step 2

    Place one of the tripod feet on the ground. Pull the remaining feet out with your hands until the tripod fully extends.

  3. Step 3

    Thread the lock knobs onto each leg of the tripod. There are 2 lock knobs on each of the 3 legs.

  4. Step 4

    Remove the threaded rod from the head of the tripod.

  5. Step 5

    Place the spreader bar on the threaded rod. Put the retainer into the retaining slot on the threaded rod.

  6. Step 6

    Align the spreader bar so the arms of the bar line up with the tripod legs.

  7. Step 7

    Attach your telescope to the top of the tripod head and tighten the tension knob on the telescope.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use only your fingers to tighten all the knobs used in mounting your tripod legs. Overtightening can strip the screws and permanently damage both the tripod and your telescope.
