Are you having trouble trying to update data in a query in Access 2003? With all the buttons and menus, Access 2003 can seem daunting. Follow these easy steps and the job of updating your query will become much simpler:

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer
  • Access 2003
Step1
Open Access 2003. You can do this by clicking the “Start” button on the bottom left of your screen. Next, choose “All Programs”. From this list choose “Microsoft Access”.
Step2
Open the query you wish to update. It is important to note that not all queries can be updated. The type of query will be a big part of your ability to modify it.
Step3
Change the “Interface View” to the “Datasheet View”. Do this simply by clicking on the “Datasheet View” option.
Step4
Move the cursor over the datasheet to the cell you wish to alter and select it.
Step5
Alter the data as you see fit. There may be only one updatable selection or there may be several based on the type of query with which you are working.
Step6
Save the data after it is updated. The table under the datasheet display will reflect your changes. You have successfully updated the data in a query.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are alternate ways to edit data in some queries. Use the help menus of the program to help you find them.
  • Do not forget to save your progress.
