Editing relationships in Microsoft Access 2003 can prove to be a much easier way to change the requirements for retrieval as opposed to deleting the information entirely and starting from scratch. These are the steps to take to edit an existing relationship in Microsoft Office Access 2003.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Access 2003
  1. Step 1

Close all open tables that you may have open in Access. You will not be allowed to edit any kind of existing relationships between any open tables.

  2. Step 2

Press "F11" at the top of your keyboard to bring up the database window. The database window should seem familiar to you if you have already created anything in Access 2003.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Relationships" icon located on the toolbar at the top of your screen. This will bring up a screen that will allow you to view relationships between tables and queries.

  4. Step 4

Find the relationship that you want to edit and double click on the "Relationship" line.

  5. Step 5

Make any changes to the existing relationship that will best suit your needs.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don’t see the tables of the relationship that you want to edit when you click on the "Relationship" icon, then click on the "Show Table" icon on the toolbar and double click each table that you would like to view.
  • Using these steps on any other Microsoft Office Access version, such as 2002 or 1997, may not be entirely accurate.
