How to Add a Background Picture in Word 2003

      Select the picture you want. Make sure it is saved on your computer.

      Find the position in your document you wish to place that picture, making sure the picture will be able to fit on one page.

      Place the cursor at the beginning of the line where you want the picture to be placed.

      Click on the "Insert" menu from the "Standard" task bar, and select the "Picture" option. From that menu, select "From File" if you wish to use a picture you have saved on your computer. There are also options for "Clip Art" and "Word Art" pictures.
