Step 1
Detach the card from your camera and insert it in the card reader. Note that some of the latest machines have a built-in card reader. If your machine does not have one, you will have to buy it and connect to your machine using a USB cable.

Allow the system to detect the reader if you have attached one using a USB cable. The icon will appear on the right side of the windows taskbar. If your machine has a preinstalled reader, you can access it through the external drives folder.

Open the card reader's folder and select the "Import" button. The computer will automatically locate the pictures on the card and import them.

Store the photos as your desired location. It could be in "My Documents."

Assign a name to the group of photos. The computer will ask you to "Tag These Pictures." This will help you in locating the pictures easily later on.

Step 6
Erase the photos from the card memory after you have successfully imported them to the computer. This will allow you to use the card again for storing pictures.
