Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Installing RAM
Step1
Determine which kind of Tablet PC you have. There are three types: Slate, Convertible and the Rugged model.
Step2
Check the make of your Tablet PC. Every make and model has its own characteristic RAM. For example, HP Tablet PCs use EDGE memory which is the most compatible with other hardware components. Compaq TC1100 has two memory sockets with a standard 256 MB of RAM (see Resources below).
Step3
Get the RAM memory card. Most of the Tablet PCs use a memory card/stick.
Step4
Handle your Tablet PC carefully. The bottom space is empty, so you don’t have to remove anything once you've unscrewed your Tablet PC.
Step5
Release the keyboard by pressing the two tabs near F1 and F12. Lift the keyboard slightly.
Step6
Push the little silver tabs on each side. The memory card/RAM stick will pop out.
Step7
View the sockets and determine the kind of RAM your computer uses.
Step8
Note that most of the TC series have two slots. One is a non-removable slot while the other is empty to allow space for memory upgrades.
Step9
Insert the RAM memory stick in the empty slot. You'll hear a "snap" sound when the RAM is installed properly.
Step10
Pop back the silver tabs and close the bottom to complete the installation.
Step11
Switch on the computer and check that the RAM is properly installed.
