Step 1
Turn off your iBook if it is on. Wait for a few minutes for the system to cool down as the components inside may be hot.

Remove the cables connected to your iBook. Turn your computer around so that the back of it faces you.

Locate the battery latch provided in the rear portion. Open the battery latch by using a coin. Insert the coin in the slot and turn the latch 90 degrees to unlock it.

Return the computer to its normal position. Open it so that you can comfortably use the keyboard.

Release the keyboard by pressing the tabs near F1 and F12 keys. Once the tabs are released, raise the keyboard towards the display.

Unlatch the flexible wire holder to release the airport card if your computer has one. Remove the airport card cable antenna.

Loosen the screws attached to your RAM shield. Raise the RAM shield slightly away from your iBook.

View the installed memory card. Spread the brackets securing the card to remove it. Once the brackets are spread, pull your old memory card up.

Step 9
Hold the memory card at a 30-degree angle and push it into the slot until it is firmly seated. You can hear a "snap" sound when RAM is properly installed. Place the RAM shield back in its original position.

Replace the screws in their proper slots.

Slide the airport card gently back into its slot. Fix the keyboard. Make sure that you insert the tabs properly.

Reconnect all cables and the power cord.

Step 13
Switch on your computer and test the RAM installation. Make sure your iBook shows the newly installed RAM.
