How to Create an eBay Buy It Now Listing

If you do not want to jump through the hoops of a normal eBay auction, you may wish to use the "Buy It Now" option. When you create an eBay "Buy It Now" listing, you set a price that ends the auction when that price is met. Follow these steps to create a "Buy It Now" listing on eBay.

1. Decide if the "Buy It Now" option is right for you. This option could make the auction end sooner, but you may not get the highest possible price.

2. Price your item. Decide how much you want for the item you are listing and then compare it to similar items.

3. Go to the "Provide Pictures and Item Details" page of the eBay auction site, which is the third page after you click the "Sell" link on the eBay home page.

4. Find the "Buy It Now" option on the "Provide Pictures and Item Details" page. Enter the price of the item.

5. Finish the form and check the listing. Ensure that the "Buy It Now" option is available on the listing page.

Tips & Warnings

• Set your "Buy It Now" price higher than your expected high bid price.

• A bidder who really wants the item will pay the higher price to get it.

• Setting a "Buy It Now" price does scare some bidders away because it leads them to believe that you are asking more for the item than they are willing to pay.
