Bridal expos are a great place to find ideas for your wedding, or to just look around and see all the new trends. With all the vendors and services you need in one place, a wedding showcase like the Baystate Bridal Expo can be a big time-saver. Many couples can plan their entire wedding in a single weekend with the help of bridal shows like this one. You can pre-register online to attend and enter a drawing for prizes, but tickets can only be purchased at the door. The Baystate Bridal Expo is held in Boston, MA and usually runs for two days.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Computer and internet connection to pre-register
  • Cash for buying tickets at the door

Step1
Register online at the Expo Web site (see the Resources section for the address).
Step2
Mark the show dates on your calendar. If you’re coming from out-of-town, get driving directions at Google Maps or MapQuest.
Step3
Head to the Expo show grounds on Expo day and purchase your tickets at the door.
Step4
Have a great time planning your wedding!

Tips & Warnings

  • 2007 ticket prices are a little over $10 per person.
  • Registration is optional and tickets can only be purchased at the door.
  • The Bridal Expo Web site offers you the chance to win great prizes if you pre-register, as well as a discount coupon for admission. There’s also a floor plan you can print out plus a list of vendors and links to vendor Web sites.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes—you might end up doing a lot of walking.
  • Take a camera along with you—when you’re talking with salespeople at your bridal store, a photo will help you explain what you want.
  • Bring a notebook and a pen for writing down details about photographers and other wedding service providers. You’ll talk to a lot of vendors, while you’re at the Expo and while you can get their business cards for contact details, it’s great to have a notebook handy for writing down any other important information.
  • Spend your time wisely. If you’ve already got certain services booked, don’t waste your time looking at vendors with those services (you’ll only end up worrying about whether or not you chose the right one!)
  • If you’re planning to organize your whole wedding at the Expo, draw up a budget before you go. Decide how much you want to spend on each item and then try your best to stick to it. Also, decide where you’re willing to compromise and which aspects of the wedding you don’t want to change.
