Open PowerPoint 2003 by clicking the icon on your desktop.

Decide why you are making a slide show. Is it for a birthday, anniversary, special occasion or simply for work? Select an appropriate color and animation theme. You can locate these options under the task panes. You can always edit the colors and themes if you change your mind.

Switch between several different views to create your custom slide show. You can create and edit your slides from the current slide show, the normal slide show and the slide sorter views. You can also use the Note Page view.

Select the pictures that you would like to include from your own digital camera.

Add some sound effects to your slide show. Choose appropriate music to make your presentation more realistic and exciting.

Click on the Outline tab in the left panel to view an outline of your slides. You can easily switch between the Outline tab and the Slides tab.

View a thumbnail image of your custom slide show from your current presentation through the Slide tab.

Start arranging your materials in the custom slide show. You may want to organize the pictures and materials prior to adding them.

Create a color and animation theme early on so you do not have to keep making changes.
