A counterweight is an important part of a telescope. It locks the telescope into the mount for proper transport and balancing. To install a counterweight, the counterweight rod must first be installed. Follow the procedure below to install a counterweight for the Sky-Watcher SK8035TAEQ Tabletop Telescope.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Counterweight
  • Counterweight rod
Step1
Fasten the counterweight rod with a screw into the threaded hole on the end of the declination shaft.
Step2
Unscrew the threaded cap from the end of the counterweight rod.
Step3
Slip the counterweight halfway along the counterweight rod that has been installed. Subsequently tighten the screw of the counterweight to ensure locking.
Step4
Replace the cap on the end of the counterweight rod.
